Law-abiding citizens who want to exercise their Second Amendment rights in Michigan are forced to jump through all sorts of bureaucratic rigmarole.

You are required to attend government-mandated training, submit to invasive background checks, get fingerprinted like a common criminal, and pay exorbitant fees just to ask the government for permission to carry concealed.

Since the permit isn’t required to openly carry a pistol, the law only serves as a “coat tax” on our gun rights.

And if you don’t pay the tax you could become a felon, lose your gun rights for life, and be thrown in jail for up to five years for what is ultimately a victimless crime.

That’s why Great Lakes Gun Rights is fighting to restore the Second Amendment in Michigan by continuing our push for a recorded vote on pro-gun Constitutional Carry legislation.

Constitutional Carry simply restores the right to carry a firearm openly or concealed without a government permission slip -- the way the Founders intended.

Support Constitutional Carry Petition to My Elected Officials

WHEREAS: The Right of the People to keep and bear arms is protected both by the U.S. Constitution and by the Constitution of the State of Michigan; and

WHEREAS: This inalienable right clearly includes the right to carry a handgun for self-defense; and

WHEREAS: Requiring law-abiding citizens to obtain government permission through the permit system before they can exercise their constitutional right to bear arms is a clear violation of that right; and

WHEREAS: Real-life experience and extensive research both clearly demonstrate restricting the right to bear arms in self-defense only encourages violent crime.

THEREFORE: I respectfully urge you to publicly support and vote for Constitutional Carry in Michigan. Great Lakes Gun Rights will keep me informed about your votes and actions.
