WHEREAS:
The Right of the People to keep and bear arms is protected both by the U.S. Constitution and by the Constitution of the state of Michigan; and
WHEREAS:
This inalienable right clearly includes the right to carry a handgun for self-defense; and
WHEREAS:
Requiring law-abiding citizens to obtain government permission through the permit system before they can exercise their constitutional right to bear arms is a clear violation of that right; and
WHEREAS:
Real-life experience and extensive research both clearly demonstrate restricting the right to bear arms in self-defense only encourages violent crime.
THEREFORE:
I respectfully urge you to publicly support and vote for Constitutional Carry in Michigan.
